‘Gay gowans’ are (with a little poetic licence) ‘dazzling daisies’. This is a light-hearted and very effective arrangement of a very old Scottish May song, about a man who tries (unsuccessfully) to woo a pretty maid.
Music: Katy Cooper. Words: Trad. Scots.
