Composer's note

These seven short, meditative pieces are based on Biblical passages describing Jesus’ death. They have been written to be used liturgically, with space between for readings, meditations and/or silence, as is deemed fitting for the occasion.

The moods that are given are suggestions only, and may be varied to fit any readings that are used. The pieces are suitable for use during Lent, especially during Holy Week, but can be used at other times if felt appropriate.

The Seven Last Words is a traditional sequence of Biblical passages describing the last hours of Christ’s life.
