Pokarekare ana

(the waves at Waiapu)

tune and Maori words by Pairaire Tomoana

arranged by Sheena Phillips
for soprano, alto, tenor and bass chorus

SATB performance time approx 2m 00s

Composer's note

This is a calm and beautiful tune, written by a Maori composer about 100 years ago and still well-known in New Zealand.

It's a love song, with a sea-side setting which is suggested in this arrangement by over-lapping phrases.
