Day is düne

words by William Soutar (1898-1943)

set to music by Sheena Phillips
for soprano, alto, tenor and bass chorus

SATB performance time approx 2m 00s

Composer's note

This is a setting of a beautiful lullaby by the Scots poet William Soutar, who was dedicated to strengthening the use of the Scots language. He wrote a lot of poems for children and is a joy to set to music. The lullaby should be sung simply and liltingly throughout.

A recording by Rudsambee company of singers is available on their album bottled at source (RUBEECD003).
